What is BS EN ISO 11844‑3 about ?
ISO 11844-3 is the third part of the ISO 11844 series of documents on corrosion of metals and alloys. ISO 11844-3 is an international standard on corrosion of metals and alloys that assists you in measuring the environmental parameters affecting indoor corrosivity.
ISO 11844‑3 parameters include humidity and temperature parameters, airborne gas contaminants, airborne particle contaminants.
Who is ISO 11844‑3 for ?
ISO 11844‑3 on corrosion of metals and alloys is applicable to:
- Manufacturers of metal and alloy components
- Suppliers of metal and alloy components
- Service and inspection departments of metal industries
Why should you use ISO 11844‑3 ?
The environmental parameters for the characterization of indoor atmospheres include more airborne contaminants than are normally used for the characterization of the outdoor environment. It helps to measure and prevent indoor corrosivity.
ISO 11844‑3 provides you with extensive information on principle, environmental parameters, humidity and temperature parameters, airborne gas contaminants, airborne particle contaminants, dry deposition velocity and measurements of airflow which allow you to measure factors affecting the indoor corrosivity.
The information on principle, environmental parameters and other factors provided by ISO 11844‑3 help you in reducing the corrosivity of metals and alloys.
What’s changed since the last update ?
BS EN ISO 11844‑3:2020 supersedes BS EN ISO 11844‑3:2008, which is now withdrawn.
Changes in BS EN ISO 11844‑3:2020 include –
- The normative references have been updated
- A reference to ISO 16000 in Clause 5 has been added
- The detection limits in 7.3.1 and 7.3.2 have been updated
- A new Clause 9 has been added
