What is ISO 12127-1-Determination of contact heat produced by heating cylinder about?
ISO 12127 is an international standard on clothing to protect against heat and flame that discusses the test methods for the determination of contact heat produced by heating cylinders to ensure protection against heat and flame hazards.
ISO 12127-1 is the first part of a multi-part series that specifies a test method for the determination of contact heat transmission. ISO 12127-1 applies to protective clothing (including hand protectors) and its constituent materials intended to protect against high contact temperatures.
Note: The application of ISO 12127-1 is restricted to contact temperatures between 100 °C and 500 °C.
Who is ISO 12127-1-Determination of contact heat produced by heating cylinder for?
ISO 12127-1 on the determination of contact heat produced by heating cylinder is useful for:
- Protective clothing manufacturers
- Protective clothing designers
- Protective clothing test personnel
- Occupational health and safety departments
- Risk assessment authorities
- Quality assurance departments
Why should you use ISO 12127-1-Determination of contact heat produced by heating cylinder?
Protective clothing is designed to protect against heat and flame can be exposed to direct contact with hot substances or hot surfaces. The diversity of such contact conditions makes it difficult to evaluate the hazards that can arise from high temperatures.
ISO 12127-1 provides you with apparatus, sampling and conditioning, test methods, procedures, and much more.
The test methods and procedures provided by ISO 12127-1 assist in the determination of contact heat produced when a heating cylinder and the clothing material are brought into contact with each other and to ensure protection from the risk of injures due to heat and flame.
With obedience and compliance to ISO 12127-1, you can enhance the efficacy of protective clothing and manufacture a standardized high-quality product.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN ISO 12127-1:2015 supersedes ISO 12127-1:2007, which is withdrawn. ISO 12127-1:2007 has made some technical changes compared to the previous edition BS EN ISO 12127-1:2015. These include:
- Modified clause for “Heating cylinder” regarding example and pictures
- Modified clause for “Calorimeter” regarding more detailed information
- Modified clause for “Assembly” regarding speed and picture
- New Annex for “Best practices for cleaning the heating cylinder” and for “Determination of property values for rating and classification”
