What is ISO 12670 - Thermal spraying about?
ISO 12670 specifies technical supply conditions for parts with thermally sprayed coatings for the manufacturing or repair of components.
ISO 12670 applies to applications where quality requirements according to ISO 14922-2 (comprehensive requirements) or ISO 14922-3 (standard requirements) are required.
Who is ISO 12670 - Thermal spraying for?
ISO 12670 on components with thermally sprayed coatings and technical supply is relevant to:
- Manufacturers of the thermally sprayed coating
- Spraying coordinator
- Testing personnel
Why should you use ISO 12670 - Thermal spraying?
The thermal spray procedure specification contains all parameters, including, the relative motion between the gun and the part or the identification number of the motion programme, those which are necessary for the spraying process of the relevant part.
ISO 12670 specifies the technical requirements for spraying materials, spray procedure specifications and acceptance criteria for thermally sprayed coatings. ISO 12670 also provides you with quality tests to ensure that these requirements are met. These tests help you to measure the coating thickness, geometry of the coating, resistance to penetration, roughness and hardness of the coating.
Overall, the guidelines of ISO 12670 help you to identify the performance of thermally sprayed coatings and thereby ensures proper finish is applied to materials.
