What is ISO 13520 - Austenitic stainless steel castings about?
ISO 13520 is an international standard on austenitic stainless steel castings that discusses the best procedures and specifications required for determining the ferrite content in austenitic stainless steel castings. ISO 13520 specifies methods and procedures for estimating ferrite content in austenitic stainless steel castings by chemical, magnetic, and metallographic means.
Who is ISO 13520 - Austenitic stainless steel castings for?
ISO 13520 on ferrite content in austenitic stainless steel castings is relevant to:
- Steel industries
- Manufacturers of austenitic stainless-steel castings
- Metallurgists
Why should you use BS EN ISO 13520 - Austenitic stainless steel castings?
Austenitic stainless steel castings are non-magnetic. When nickel is added to stainless steel in sufficient amounts the crystal structure changes to “austenite”. The basic composition of austenitic stainless steel casting grade is 18% chromium and 8% nickel.
