What is ISO 13919-2 about?
ISO 13919-2 is one of the parts of a series of documents. ISO 13919-2 is directly applicable for visual examination of welds. ISO 13919-2 gives guidance on levels of imperfections in electron and laser beam welded joints in aluminium, magnesium and their alloys and pure copper. Three levels are given in such a way to permit application for a wide range of welded fabrications. The levels refer to production quality and not to the fitness-for-purpose of the product manufactured.
This standard applies to:
- Aluminium and magnesium their alloys
- Pure copper
- All types of welds welded with or without additional filler wire
- Materials equal to or above 0,5 mm thickness for electron and laser beam welding.
Note: Metallurgical aspects, e.g., grain size, hardness, and hydrogen embrittlement (pure copper) are not covered by this document. ISO 13919-2 does not include details of recommended methods of detection or sizing by other non-destructive means.
Note 2: ISO 13919-2 does not include details of recommended methods of detection or sizing by other non-destructive means.
Who is ISO 13919-2 for?
ISO 13919-2 on Laser beam welding metallic materials is applicable in:
- Construction, automotive, mechanical Industries
- Manufacturers of aircraft & aerospace
- Manufacturers of pressure vessels
- Sheet metal manufacturers
- Shipbuilding industry
Why should you use ISO 13919-2?
The purpose of ISO 13919-2 is to define the levels of typical imperfections which can be expected in normal fabrication.
ISO 13919-2 can be directly applicable to the visual examination of welds and helps improve the quality of the production of welded joints.
ISO 13919-2 provides quality level for electron and laser-beam welding applications which must take account into design considerations for welded fabrications.
ISO 13919-2 helps bring global uniformity in Electron and laser-beam welded joints, which increases the market size for users of this document.
