What is ISO 1403 about?
ISO 1403 provides specifications for rubber hoses used for general purpose water application.
ISO 1403 specifies the requirements for three types of general-purpose textile-reinforced rubber water hose with an operating temperature range of −25 °C to +70 °C and a maximum working pressure of up to 2,5 MPa (25 bar).
These hoses are not intended to be used for the conveyance of potable (drinking) water, for washing-machine inlets, as firefighting hoses, for special agricultural machines or as collapsible water hoses.
These hoses can be used with additives that lower the freezing point of water.
Who is ISO 1403 for?
ISO 1403 on rubber hoses is relevant to:
- Manufacturers of rubber hoses
- Rubber industry
- Researchers and scientists
- Distributors and suppliers of rubber hoses
Why should you use ISO 1403?
A rubber hose is a hollow tube designed to transport fluids from one place to another. Hoses have a cylindrical shape.
ISO 1403 specifies all requirements of rubber hoses such as masking, appearance, colour, and dimensions, and measures thickness deviations in particular shapes.
Test methods provided by ISO 1403 are designed to assess the durability and quality of rubber hoses, and information related to the testing can be provided to the testing operations.
Overall, ISO 1403 is a comprehensive guide to processing and manufacturing rubber hoses, so users will gain a comprehensive understanding of the process and the end product will be safer, more durable and more environmentally friendly.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN ISO 1403:2019 supersedes BS EN ISO 1403:2005, which is withdrawn and includes:
- In Clause 2, normative references have been updated
- The unit MPa has been added for all the pressures accordingly
- In Clause 8, the year of publication has been deleted
