What is ISO 14123-1-Principles and specifications for machinery manufacturers about?
ISO 14123 is an international standard on the safety of machinery that discusses the reduction of risks to health resulting from hazardous substances emitted by machinery.
ISO 14123-1 provides the best industry guidance on the principles and specifications for machinery manufacturers to ensure protection to workers from machinery hazards.
ISO 14123-1 is the first part of a multi-part series that establishes principles for the control of risks to health resulting from hazardous substances emitted by machinery.
Note: ISO 14123-1 does not apply to substances that are health hazard solely because of their explosive, flammable or radioactive properties or their behaviour at extremes of temperature or pressure.
Who is ISO 14123-1-Principles and specifications for machinery manufacturers for?
ISO 14123-1 on the principles and specifications for machinery manufacturers is useful for:
- Industrial machine manufacturers (small, medium and large enterprises)
- Industrial machinery test personnel
- Occupational health and safety departments
- Service providers, e.g., for maintenance (small, medium, and large enterprises)
- Risk assessment authorities
- Machine employees and employers
Why should you use ISO 14123-1-Principles and specifications for machinery manufacturers?
Operating machines safely is clearly vital. Poorly maintained equipment is much more prone to hazardous breakdowns and power failures. Conduct regular risk assessments and make sure all machine operators are trained.
ISO 14123-1 provides you with risk assessment, types of emissions, requirements and/or protective measures for elimination and reduction of risk, and much more.
The specifications provided by ISO 14123-1 assist in improving the performance and quality of the machinery and ensure reduction in the risk of injuries, casualties, life-threatening situations during the use of machinery.
With obedience and compliance to ISO 14123-1, you can enhance the efficacy of the machinery and manufacture a standardized product.
What is changed since the last update?
BS EN ISO 14123-1:2015 supersedes ISO 14123-1:1998, which is withdrawn. By taking ISO 12100 into account, BS EN ISO 14123-1:2015 has made some minor revisions as compared to the previous edition ISO 14123-1:1998.
