What is ISO 1460 about?
ISO 1460 is an international standard that includes guidelines for coatings for various metallic products.
ISO 1460 specifies the method of determining the mass per unit area of hot-dip galvanized coatings on ferrous materials. It gives specifications about terms, definitions, principles, stripping solution, sampling, procedure, expression of results for hot-dip galvanized coatings on ferrous materials.
Note 1: Exact knowledge of the area of the surface is essential, ISO 1460 is mainly applicable to shapes whose areas are easy to determine.
Who is ISO 1460 for?
ISO 1460 on hot-dip galvanized coatings on ferrous materials is applicable to:
- Automotive manufacturers
- Structures
- Ships and boat manufacturers
- Heavy equipment manufacturers
- Trains and aircraft manufacturers
- Oil and gas pipelines Industry
Why should you use ISO 1460?
Most ferrous materials like cast iron, malleable iron, cast steel, hot-rolled steel, and cold-rolled steel can be hot-dip galvanized to prevent them from corrosion and erosion.
ISO 1460 helps you determine the mass per unit area of hot-dip galvanized coatings on ferrous materials which helps to protect the ferrous metal from rust, corrosion, and to achieve the desired surface finish and appearance.
ISO 1460 provides a convenient gravimetric method to determine the mass per unit area of hot-dip galvanized coatings. Determination of mass per unit area is an essential part of hot-dip galvanized coatings on ferrous materials in order to achieve high-quality and long-lasting coatings on ferrous materials.
