What is ISO 1463 about?
ISO 1463 specifies a method for the measurement of the local thickness of metallic coatings, oxide layers, and porcelain or vitreous enamel coatings, by the microscopical examination of cross-sections using an optical microscope.
ISO 1463 provides guidelines for making test specimens for microscopical examination of coatings.
Who is ISO 1463 for?
ISO 1463 on Metallic and oxide coatings is applicable to:
- Solar photovoltaic cell manufacturers
- Automotive manufacturers
- Structures construction
- Manufacturers Industrial porcelain enamel
- Manufacturers of laboratory equipment
- Jewellery Manufacturers
- Trains, airplanes, boat manufacturers
Why should you use ISO 1463?
A standardized method of measurement for thickness of coating on metals is necessary to eradicate issues arising from exposure to chemicals, temperature, or pressure. ISO 1463 is used to determine the local thickness of metallic, oxide coatings and porcelain or vitreous enamel coatings on metals that provide corrosion, abrasion, and chemical resistance.
ISO 1463 helps to improve the quality of metallic, oxide coatings and porcelain or vitreous enamel coatings on metals.
ISO 1463 also aids in the calibration of the length measuring device on the microscope, which is used to measure coating thickness.
ISO 1463 helps bring global uniformity in Electron and laser-beam welded joints, which increases the market size for users of this document.
