What is ISO 14946 about?
ISO 14946 discusses on maximum load capacity of small craft. ISO 14946 specifies the items included in the maximum load of small craft, without exceeding the limits set by other ISO standards for stability, freeboard, and flotation.
ISO 14946 specifies the requirements for seating and occupancy areas of crew members to meet all applicable safety.
Note: ISO 14945 does not include personal watercraft.
Who is ISO 14946 for?
ISO 14946 on small craft is applicable to:
- Water transport engineers
- Ship and marine industries
- Maritime manufacturing industries
- Craft manufacturing industries
Why should you use ISO 14946?
The maximum load capacity on compliance notice refers to the total weight that the craft can hold in order to navigate safely. ISO 14946 provides the design guidelines that you need to adhere to. Following guidelines given in ISO 14946 help you to design and construct small crafts which ensure the level of safety and environmental sustainability.
Following ISO 14946 evaluates the stability, freeboard, buoyancy, and flotation requirements of the craft and assists you in determining the maximum load capacity for the manufacturers as well as the builder’s plate.
By adopting ISO 14946, manufacturers can build effective small crafts and have quality assurance, which ensure that small crafts are produced according to the requirements and build trust in their use throughout the ship and marine supply chain.
What’s changed since the last update?
