What is ISO 15212-1- Oscillation-type density meters about?
ISO 15212-1 is an international standard that discusses attributes of the oscillation-type density meters.
ISO 15212-1 specifies metrological and other requirements for oscillation-type density meters which are used in laboratories for all kinds of homogeneous fluid samples. In addition, it gives a method for the adjustment and calibration of laboratory instruments.
The instruments are either stand-alone units or part of more complex measuring equipment supplying additional test parameters of the sample.
ISO 15212-1 specifies related definitions, the measuring principle, functional units, density sensor, requirements, test procedures, adjustment, and calibration methods for oscillation-type density meters.
Note 1: ISO 15212-1 does not describe the method of use of density meters for applications or products such as petroleum products or beverages.
Note 2: ISO 15212-1 does not define an instrument specification for any application.
Who is ISO 15212-1- Oscillation-type density meters for?
ISO 15212-1 on oscillation-type density meters is relevant to:
- Manufacturers and designers of oscillation-type density meters
- Entities testing and certifying the conformity of density meters
- Laboratories where instruments are used
- Testing authorities
- Regulatory authorities
- Quality control personnel
Why should you use ISO 15212-1- Oscillation-type density meters?
Oscillation-type density meters are proven to be very robust, reliable, and convenient instruments to measure density.
The sensors used in oscillation-type density meters are electrically or mechanically induced oscillating systems, whose oscillation frequencies or periods are a function of the sample density. Instrument constants of the adjusted oscillation-type density meters are used to calculate the sample density from the oscillation frequency of the oscillation period.
ISO 15212-1 is addressed to manufacturers of density meters and to bodies testing and certifying the conformity of density meters. It gives recommendations for the adjustment and calibration of density meters to the user.
ISO 15212-1 exemplifies the test methods for assessing the oscillation-type density meters and verifying their performance under various operating conditions. It provides you with the elaborated information for conducting the test methods including the effects, test conditions, evaluation of the tests, displaying the results, etc. for oscillation-type density meters.
Overall, ISO 15212-1 is useful as it provides guidance to manufacture the oscillation-type density meters with precision and comes in handy as a manual for the users.
