What is ISO 15245‑1 about?
ISO 15245‑1 is the first part of a series of documents on gas cylinders. ISO 15245‑1 specifies definitions, dimensions, and tolerances of parallel screw threads of M30 x 2, M25 x 2, and M18 x 1,5, for the connection of valves to medical and industrial gas cylinders.
ISO 15245‑1 does not contain the connection requirements for:
- Mechanical strength;
- Gas tightness;
- The capability of repeated assembly and dismounting operations (this aspect is covered in iso 13341).
Who is ISO 15245‑1 for?
ISO 15245‑1 on Parallel threads for connection of valves to gas cylinders is relevant to:
- Manufacturer of the gas cylinder and its accessories
- Manufacturer of parallel screw threads
Why should you use ISO 15245‑1?
Cylinders intended to contain compressed, liquefied, or dissolved gas under pressure are fitted with accessories (valves, straight or angle fittings) to allow the release of and refilling with gas.
The connection between cylinder and valve is obtained by the assembly of two parallel threads with the same nominal pitch and thread profile an external one on the valve stem and an internal one in the cylinder neck – and an O-ring seal.
ISO 15245‑1 provides information on thread rotation, thread profile, pitch, thread dimensions, o-rings, and parallel screw threads of a gas cylinder.
With obedience and compliance to ISO 15245‑1, you can efficiently manufacture high-quality parallel screw threads for the connection of valves of the gas cylinder. ISO 15245‑1 helps you to build consumer trust and confidence in the product. With ISO 15245‑1 you can be ensured that the products consistently meet and exceed quality assurance targets. ISO 15245‑1 helps the users to purchase parallel screw threads of perfect dimension.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN ISO 15245‑1:2021 supersedes BS EN ISO 15245‑1:2001+A1:2013, which is withdrawn.
The main changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:
- Modification of Figure 2 on the Cylinder neck
- Addition of sub clause 4.5 on O-rings
- Minor editorial changes throughout the document to fully align with ISO/IEC Directives Part 2
