What is ISO 15349-2 Determination of low carbon content about?
ISO 15349-2 specifies an infrared absorption method after combustion in an induction furnace for the determination of the low carbon content in unalloyed steel.
Note: ISO 15349-2 is applicable to carbon contents between 0,000 3 % (mass fraction) and 0,009 % (mass fraction).
Who is ISO 15349-2- Determination of low carbon content for?
ISO 15349-2 on the determination of low carbon content is beneficial for:
- Mechanical engineers
- Chemical engineers
- Chemical industries
- Offshore construction sectors
Why should you use ISO 15349-2- Determination of low carbon content?
Unalloyed steels are very widely used in a larger number of industrial activities, such as transportation, pipework.
ISO 15349-2 provides guidance to the user about unalloyed steel and the infrared absorption method after combustion in an induction furnace. ISO 15349-2 gives details for determination, the establishment of the calibration curve, and also about the test method.
Overall, ISO 15349-2 is helpful as it provides guidance about unalloyed steel which can be of great help.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN ISO 15349‑2:2021 supersedes BS EN ISO 153492:2003, which is withdrawn.
BS EN ISO 15349‑2:2021 cancels and replaces the first edition (ISO 15349‑2:1999), which has been technically revised. The main changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:
- normative references have been revised
- the precision data has been updated
- the former Table B.3 has been deleted
- the text has been improved editorially
