What is ISO 15708‑1 about?
ISO 15708‑1 is the first part of the ISO 15708 series of standards that gives the definitions of terms used in the field of computed tomography (CT). ISO 15708‑1 presents a terminology that is not only CT-specific but also includes other more generic terms and definitions spanning imaging and radiography. Some of the definitions represent discussion points aimed at refocusing their terms in the specific context of computed tomography.
 Who is ISO 15708‑1 for?
ISO 15708‑1 on radiation methods for computed tomography is useful for:
- Medical practitioners
- Radiographers and radiology technologists
- CT scan equipment manufacturers
Why should you use ISO 15708‑1?
A CT scan or computed tomography scan (formerly known as computed axial tomography or CAT scan) is a medical imaging technique used in radiology to obtain detailed internal images of the body noninvasively for diagonostic purposes. ISO 15708‑1 helps the radiologist to understand the terms and definitions used in computed tomography. ISO 15708‑1 also helps Radiographers to understand radiation methods for computed tomography. Also, ISO 15708‑1 helps computed tomography equipment manufacturers to produce quality products.
