What is ISO 16534 about?
ISO 16534 is an international standard on thermal insulating products for building applications which covers determination of compressive creep.
ISO 16534 specifies the equipment and test method for determining the compressive creep of specimens under various conditions of stress.
Who is ISO 16534 for?
ISO 16534 on compression creep is useful for:
- Builders
- Civil and mechanical engineers
- Manufacturers of thermal insulating products
Why should you use ISO 16534?
A compressive creep test is necessary to measures the progressive rate of long-term deformation of a given material at high temperatures. In this document, the information is given on the determination of compressive creep by measuring the increase in deformation of a test specimen under constant compressive stress and specified conditions of temperature, humidity and time.
ISO 16534 provides the apparatus requirements for the test methods on test specimens including their dimensions, numbers, preparations and conditioning.
ISO 16534 gives the stepwise procedure on test specimens for determining the compressive creep which includes test conditions, stress selection, test procedure and duration of the test to get the accuracy, repeatability and reproducibility for a compressive creep on thermal insulating products.
Overall, these test techniques allow you to develop compressive creep on thermal insulating products in order to assure cost-effectiveness, sustainability and energy-efficient retrofitting of building items.
