What is ISO 17225-9- Graded hog fuel and wood chips for industrial use about?
ISO 17225-9 determines the fuel quality classes and specifications of graded hog fuel and wood chips for industrial use. ISO 17225-9 covers only hog fuel and wood chips produced from the following raw materials:
- Forest, plantation, and other virgin wood
- By-products and residues from the wood processing industry
- Used wood
- Blends and mixtures
ISO 17225-9 covers hog fuel that has pieces of varying size and shape, produced by crushing with blunt tools such as rollers, hammers, or flails, and wood chips which are defined as chipped woody biomass with a sub-rectangular shape and a typical length of 5 mm to 50 mm typically in the form of pieces with a defined particle size produced by mechanical treatment with sharp tools such as knives.
Who is ISO 17225-9-Graded hog fuel and wood chips for industrial use for?
ISO 17225-9 on graded hog fuel and wood chips for industrial use is beneficial for:
- Biofuel engineers
- Biodiesel operators
- Biochemical engineers
- Research labs
- Biodiesel producers
- Manufacturers and processors of solid wood products
- Processors of solid wood products
Why should you use ISO 17225-9- Graded hog fuel and wood chips for industrial use?
Wood chips may be used as a biomass solid fuel and are the raw material for producing pulp. They may also be used as an organic mulch in gardening, landscaping, and ecosystem restoration.
Hog fuel is solid biofuel in the form of pieces of varying size and shape produced by crushing or shredding with blunt tools such as rollers, hammers, or flails and can be sourced from a wide range of woody feedstocks such as wood processing residues, urban clean woody waste or other forest or woodlot derived materials.
The objective of ISO 17225-9 is to provide the user with unambiguous and clear classification principles for solid biofuels; to serve as a tool to enable efficient trading of solid biofuels; to enable good understanding between seller and buyer as well as a tool for communication with equipment manufacturers. ISO 17225-9 facilitates authority permission procedures and reporting.
ISO 17225-9 supports the use of graded hog fuel and wood chips for industrial heat and power generation applications, which require graded hog fuel and/or wood chips
Overall, ISO 17225-9 is helpful as it assists with the fuel specifications and classes of graded hog fuel wood chips, which can help you in your business.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN ISO 17225-9: 2021 supersedes PD ISO/TS 172259:2020, which is withdrawn. BS EN ISO 17225-9: 2021 replaces ISO/TS 172259:2020, which has been technically revised. The main changes are:
- general definitions
- updated particle size distribution
