What is ISO 17226-1- Leather quality- HPLC method of formaldehyde about?
ISO 17226-1 specifies a method for the determination of free and released formaldehyde in leathers. This method, based on high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), is selective and not sensitive to colored extracts and is intended to be used for the precise quantification of formaldehyde.
Note: The formaldehyde content is taken to be the quantity of free-formaldehyde and formaldehyde extracted through hydrolysis contained in a water extract from the leather under standard conditions.
Who is ISO 17226-1 - Leather quality- HPLC method of formaldehyde for?
ISO 17226-1 on the chemical determination of formaldehyde content in leather is applicable to:
- Leather industry
- Chemical industry
Why should you use ISO 17226-1 - Leather quality- HPLC method of formaldehyde?
Leather is a strong and flexible material to be used. It is eco-friendly and lasts long for years as it has the best durability of existing, it is also easy to clean material. ISO 17226-1 gives confidence to the end-users about the quality and the durability of the leather. The smooth surface of the leather all says it about the quality control on the leather which satisfies the end-user. ISO 17226-1 specifies the method and chemical used for determining quality level.
ISO 17226-1 uses the HPLC method for determining the chemical from leather, HPLC validates the product, quality control, and studies of the product so it will analyze the quality and the durability of leather.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN ISO 17226-1:2019 supersedes ISO 17226-1:2008 which has been withdrawn. BS EN ISO 172261:2019 has been technically revised, these changes had taken place:
- The terms and conditions are inserted and subsequent clauses renumbered
- The recommended HPLC conditions are moved to annex.
