What is ISO 17830 - Determination of disintegrated pellets about?
Solid biofuels are derived from non-fossil, and organic materials which includes plant biomass, municipal waste, and animal waste which can be used to produce energy for heating, electricity generation or cooking.
ISO 17830 defines the requirements and method used to determine particle size distribution of disintegrated pellets. It is applicable for pellets that fully disintegrate in hot water.
ISO 17830 specifies the method which is based on experience with pellets made from sawdust, wood shavings, and milled wood, as well as straw. The method may also be applicable for pellets produced from other solid biofuel materials provided that they can be dissolved into its constituents in water.
Who is ISO 17830 - Determination of disintegrated pellets for?
ISO 17830 for determination of particle size distribution of disintegrated pellets is useful for:
- Transport sector
- Power plants
- Agricultural sector
Why should you use ISO 17830 - Determination of disintegrated pellets?
It is essential to have access to reliable methods to determine the size distribution of disintegrated pellets in biofuels to allow sustainable use of these fuels. ISO 17830 provides you with quality guidelines which define the characteristics, and requirements to determine particle size distribution for disintegrated pellets.
In power plants with powder fuel burners for energy production, the operators need information about the particle size distribution of the fuel for optimising particle burnout during combustion. ISO 17830 guidelines helps you to characterize particle size distribution of the material contained within fuel pellets, and also allows for a relative comparison of pellets of different manufacturing.
