What is ISO 17962 - Sowing equipment with exhaust fans about?
ISO 17962 is one of a series of international standards regarding agricultural machinery.
ISO 17962 specifies various means of minimizing the environmental effects of fan exhaust from pneumatic systems for vacuum-style sowing agricultural field equipment used for sowing coated seeds.
ISO 17962 is applicable to vacuum-style sowing systems where “dust off” (fugitive) material from seed coatings can mix with fan (blower) intake air and be exhausted into the atmosphere.
Note1: ISO 17962 is not applicable to
- Conveyance systems between a central tank and remote meters where the air is exhausted at the remote meters
- Conveyance systems where the meter is at a central tank and the air is exhausted at a ground engaging opening device
Note2: The design principles in ISO 17962 are not applicable to pneumatic equipment for sowing which was manufactured before the date of its publication.
Note3: National or local requirements can apply which could be more stringent.
Who is ISO 17962 - Sowing equipment with exhaust fans for?
ISO 17962 on agricultural machinery is useful for:
- Manufacturers of agricultural machinery
- Dealers and suppliers of agricultural machinery
- Quality control personnel
- Regulatory authorities
Why should you use ISO 17962 - Sowing equipment with exhaust fans?
Sowing equipment with an exhaust system tends to spray out harmful elements from such as seed coatings, and pesticide residues into the environment. Hence, these equipment or machines need to be designed or installed in a manner that causes minimum damage to the environment.
ISO 17962 provides you with designing guidelines for fan exhaust systems of sowing equipment that can help you to minimize the effects of its function on the surrounding environment. ISO 17962 also provides you with test procedures that help you to verify the effectiveness of these methods in reducing the effects of the exhaust fans.
Overall. The guidance of ISO 17962 helps you to meet the minimum pollution safety requirement for sowing equipment with exhaust fans.
