What is ISO 18273 about?
ISO 18273 is an international standard that specifies requirements for the classification of solid wires and rods for fusion welding of aluminium and aluminium alloys. The classification of the solid wires and rods is based on their chemical composition.
For aluminium welding consumables, there is no unique relationship between the product form and the welding process used, for this reason, the solid wires or rods can be classified on the basis of any of the above product forms and can be used as appropriate for more than one of the above processes.
Who is ISO 18273 for?
ISO 18273 on welding consumables is applicable to:
- Construction, automotive, mechanical Industries
- Oil and gas industry
- Manufacturers of pressure vessels
- Manufacturers of aircraft & aerospace
- Shipbuilding industry
- Welding consumables manufacturers
Why should you use ISO 18273?
For the critical process like welding of aluminium and aluminium alloys, thorough systematisation of the application of welding consumables is required.
Compliance with ISO 18273 can help you standardize terms for solid wires and rods for fusion welding of aluminium and aluminium alloys based upon their chemical composition to help prevent misinterpretation and miscommunication, eliminate the ambiguity in the applications of these welding consumables.
For aluminium welding consumables, there is no unique relationship between the product form and the welding process used, for this reason, the solid wires or rods are classified as per ISO 18273 on the basis of any of the above product forms and can be used as appropriate for more than one of the above processes.
Adopting ISO 18273 can provide you with the standardization of the use of Welding consumables improves the quality and efficiency of welding of stainless and heat-resisting steels.
What’s changed since the last update?
The standard was systematically reviewed by technical experts to ensure its continued market relevance. BS EN ISO 18273:2015 is a technical revision of the BS EN ISO 18273:2004 version which has been withdrawn.
