What is ISO 1833-14 - Quantitative chemical analysis about?
ISO 1833 is an international standard on textiles that discusses quantitative chemical analysis.
ISO 1833-14 provides the best industry guidance on mixtures of acetate with certain other fibres to ensure efficient chemical analysis.
ISO 1833-14 is the fourteenth part of the multi-series standard that specifies a method, using glacial acetic acid, to determine the mass percentage of acetate, after removal of non-fibrous matter, in textiles made of mixtures of acetate with certain chlorofibres or after-chlorinated chlorofibres.
Who is ISO 1833-14 - Quantitative chemical analysis for?
ISO 1833-14 on quantitative chemical analysis of mixtures of acetate is relevant to:
- Textile manufacturer
- Fabric industry
- Textile testing laboratories
Why should you use ISO 1833-14 - Quantitative chemical analysis?
Acetate is a man-made fibre derived from cellulose. The purified cellulose is obtained from wood pulp, using a chemical reaction with acetic acid and acetic anhydride with sulphuric acid.
ISO 1833-14 assists you with the quantitative chemical analysis of acetate, after removing non-fibrous matter, in textiles, as the standard procedure for analysing fibre mixtures.
ISO 1833-14 provides the necessary methods and procedures to formulate superior and refined fabric with cost-effective, durable, and sustainable properties.
With compliance and obedience to ISO 1833-14, you can efficiently do chemical analysis that enhances the efficacy of products and assist in manufacturing a standardized product of high quality.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN ISO 1833-14:2019 supersedes ISO 1833‑14:2006, which is withdrawn. BS EN ISO 1833-14:2019 includes some technical changes compared to ISO 1833‑14:2006. These include:
- The title has been changed from “Mixtures of acetate and certain chlorofibres (method using acetic acid)” to “Mixtures of acetate with certain other fibres (method using glacial acetic acid)”
- In scope sentence has been added to refer to other test methods for acetate with other fibres
- In the glacial acetic acid note has been added with the range of glacial acetic acid boiling point
- In calculation and expression of results “percentage point” has been added to avoid confusion.
