What is ISO 1833-21 - Quantitative chemical analysis about?
ISO 1833-21 is the 21st part of the multi-series ISO 1833. ISO 1833-21 specifies a method, using cyclohexanone, to determine the mass percentage of chlorofibre, modacrylic, elastane, acetate, and triacetate, after removal of non-fibrous matter, in textiles made of mixtures of acetate, triacetate, chlorofibre, certain modacrylics, certain elastanes with wool, animal hair, silk, cotton, cupro, modal, viscose, lyocell, polyamide, acrylic, melamine, polyacrylate and glass fibres.
Who is ISO 1833-21 - Quantitative chemical analysis for?
ISO 1833-21 on quantitative chemical analysis mixtures of chlorofibres is useful for:
- Textile manufacturer
- Textile testing laboratories
- Chemical laboratories
Why should you use ISO 1833-21 - Quantitative chemical analysis?
Any synthetic fibre made from the polymerization of a chlorinated monomer (especially from forms of polyvinyl chloride) is Called chlorofiber. ISO 1833-21 provides you guidance for the apparatus and the test procedure that helps you to find the percentage of chlorofibre, modacrylic, elastane, acetate and triacetate by the difference.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN ISO 1833-21:2019 supersedes ISO 1833‑21:2006. BS EN ISO 1833-21:2019 includes some technical changes with respect to ISO 1833‑21:2006. These include:
- The title has been changed from “Mixtures of chlorofibres, certain modacrylics, certain elastane, acetates, triacetates and certain other fibres…” to “Mixtures of chlorofibres, certain modacrylics, certain elastane, acetates, triacetates with certain other fibres.”
- In scope some remaining fibres have been added
- The mandatory terms and definitions have been added and the subsequent clauses have been renumbered
- Tolerances have been added to the washing temperature
- Specific d factor for melamine and polyacrylate has been added
- Percentage point has been added to avoid confusion.
