What is ISO 1833-24 – Quantitative chemical analysis of textiles about?
ISO 1833-24 is an international standard that focuses on various test methods for checking the quality of fabrics.
ISO 1833-24 specifies a method using phenol and tetrachloroethane to determine the percentage of polyester after removal of non-fibrous matter, in textiles made of binary mixtures of certain polyester fibres with acrylic, polypropylene or aramid fibres.
To perform the quantitative chemical analysis of textiles, the polyester fibre is dissolved out from a known dry mass of the mixture, with a reagent composed of phenol and tetrachloroethane.
Note: The test method given in ISO 1833-24 does not apply to coated fabrics.
Who is ISO 1833-24 – Quantitative chemical analysis of textiles for?
ISO 1833-24 on quantitative chemical analysis of textiles is useful for:
- Textile manufacturer
- Clothing industries
- Textile testing laboratories
- Fabric quality assurance authorities
- Regulatory authorities
Why should you use ISO 1833-24– Quantitative chemical analysis of textiles?
Quality of textiles can be coined as the level of acceptance of clothing products or services. For the textile and apparel industry, product quality is checked in terms of finish and class of the fibres, yarns, fabric construction, colourfastness, designs, and the final product.
ISO 1833-24 presents you with the test method for the quantitative chemical analysis of textiles, that helps the users to investigate the amount of polyester in the fabric, after the removal of non-fibrous matter. It is a general procedure, used widely for the analysis of fibre mixtures, to eliminate sizing, finishing, and other non-fibrous materials from the mixture, along with removing the different kinds of fibres, one at a time, by suitable reagents.
ISO 1833-24 gives you elaborated particulars about the apparatus needed to perform the test, explains the principle of the test, helps the users to execute the calculations, and to conclude the final test report. It analyzes the mixtures of known compositions, to demonstrate the practicability of the proposed standard procedure and to indicate its precision.
With compliance and obedience to ISO 1833-24, you can efficiently perform the quantitative chemical analysis of textiles, to enhance the efficacy of the fabrics and manufacture a standardized product of high quality.
