What is ISO 1833-5 – Quantitative chemical analysis of textiles using sodium zincate?
ISO 1833-5 is the fifth part of an international multi-series standard that covers the attributes of quality textiles.
ISO 1833-5 specifies a method, using sodium zincate, to determine the percentage of viscose, cupro or modal fibre, after removal of non-fibrous matter, in textiles made of binary mixtures of:
- Viscose or most of the current cupro or modal fibres
- Raw, scoured, kiered, or bleached cotton
Note: The method given in ISO 1833-5 is not applicable to mixtures in which the cotton has suffered extensive chemical degradation, nor when the viscose, cupro or modal fibre is rendered incompletely soluble by the presence of certain permanent finishes or reactive dyes that cannot be removed completely.
Who is ISO 1833-5 – Quantitative chemical analysis of textiles using sodium zincate for?
ISO 1833-5 on quantitative chemical analysis of textiles using sodium zincate is useful for:
- Textile manufacturer
- Clothing industries
- Textile testing laboratories
- Fabric quality assurance authorities
- Regulatory authorities
Why should you use ISO 1833-5 – Quantitative chemical analysis of textiles using sodium zincate?
Quality of textiles can be coined as the level of acceptance of clothing products or services. For the textile and apparel industry, product quality is checked in terms of finish and class of the fibres, yarns, fabric construction, colourfastness, designs, and the final product.
ISO 1833-5 presents you with the test method for the quantitative chemical analysis using sodium zincate, which helps the users to investigate the quantity of viscose, cupro, or modal and cotton fibres, after the removal of non-fibrous matter. It is a general procedure, used widely for the analysis of fibre mixtures, to eliminate sizing, finishing, and other non-fibrous materials from the mixture, along with removing the different kinds of fibres, one at a time, by suitable reagents.
ISO 1833-5 gives you elaborated particulars about the apparatus needed to perform the test, explains the principle of the test, helps the users to execute the calculations, and to conclude the final test report. It analyses the mixtures of known compositions, to demonstrate the practicability of the proposed standard procedure and to indicate its precision.
With compliance and obedience to ISO 1833-5, you can efficiently perform the quantitative chemical analysis of textiles, to enhance the efficacy of the fabrics and manufacture a standardized product of high quality.
