What is ISO 18473‑2-functional pigments and extenders about?
ISO 18473 discusses functional pigments and extenders for special applications. ISO 18473‑2 is the second part of ISO 18473 multi-series and discusses nanoscale titanium dioxide for sunscreen application. ISO 18473‑2 specifies the requirements and corresponding test methods for sunscreen application of nanoscale titanium dioxide,
Who is ISO 18473‑2-functional pigments and extenders for?
ISO 18473‑2 on functional pigments and extenders for special applications is useful for:
- Paint manufacturers
- Cosmetic manufacturers
Why should you use ISO 18473‑2-functional pigments and extenders?
The UV radiation of sunlight has great harm to the skin. Overmuch exposure to UV radiation will cause erythema and black spots, age the skin, and can even cause skin carcinoma. Sunscreens, which include UV blockers, are thus applied to the skin to provide UV protection. Among them is titanium dioxide which has been used for decades as a UV attenuator in sunscreens.
ISO 18473‑2 specifies requirements and corresponding methods of test for nanoscale titanium dioxide in powder form for sunscreen application. This part of ISO 18473 covers the surface modified, TiO2. ISO 18473‑2 helps you manufacture high-quality sunscreens.
