What is ISO 18526-4 about?
ISO 18526 discusses eye and face protection. ISO 18526-4 is the fourth part of the ISO 18526 multi-series that elaborates on test method using headforms. ISO 18526-4 specifies the dimensions and tolerances of the headforms used for the testing of eye and face protectors.
Additional information is given for anthropometric measurement methods, anthropometric data for head and face dimensions and human test panels.
Who is ISO 18526-4 for?
ISO 18526-4 on eye and face protection is useful for:
- Eyewear manufacturers
- Quality control and testing personnel
- Design engineers
Why should you use ISO 18526-4?
The basic anatomical requirements of the users of eye and face protection are to be considered when selecting an appropriate size of protector for comfortable and functional use. ISO 18526-4 provides the anthropometric and biomechanical data required to prepare headforms used for the testing of protectors.
The headform dimensions (series 1 and 2) are based on measurements of humans by the USA's National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), which is part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. ISO 18526-4 provides headform dimensions based on measurements of humans.
ISO 18526-4 guides you to use headforms that mimic human head proportions so that you can test your eye and face protectors.
