What is ISO 18595 about?
ISO 18595 specifies requirements for resistance spot welding in the fabrication of assemblies of aluminium sheet, extrusions and/or cast material comprising two or three thicknesses of metal, where the maximum single thickness of components to be welded is within the range 0,6 mm to 6 mm.
ISO 18595 is applicable to the welding of sheets or plates of dissimilar thickness where the thickness ratio is less than or equal to 3:1. It applies to the welding of three thicknesses where the total thickness is less than or equal to 9 mm.
This standard applies to welding with the following machines:
- Pedestal welding machines
- Gun welders and Robotic welders
- Multi-welders
- Automatic welding equipment where the components are fed by robots or automatic feeding equipment
Note: Welding of coated material, such as zinc-coated or anodized material, is not covered by ISO 18595.
Who is ISO 18595 for?
ISO 18595 on Resistance welding is applicable in the following industries:
- Construction, automotive, mechanical Industries
- Sheet metal manufacturers
- Manufacturers of pressure vessels
- Manufacturers of aircraft & aerospace
- Shipbuilding industry
Why should you use ISO 18595?
Standardization in welding procedures is becoming more and more important due to the increasing quality and performance standards. Following the guidelines in ISO 18595 improves the quality of Spot welding of aluminium and aluminium alloys.
The Weldability, welding and testing guidelines in ISO 18595 provides you the opportunity to improve the weldability of resistance spot welding. Compliance with the standards informs customers that the quality and performance of the products are at the best in industry.
