What is ISO 19879 about?
ISO 19879 specifies uniform methods for the testing and performance evaluation of metallic tube connections, stud ends for ports and flange connections for use in hydraulic fluid power applications.
For qualification of the connector, the minimum number of samples specified in ISO 19879 is tested, unless otherwise specified in the relevant connector standard or as agreed upon by the manufacturer and the user.
NOTE: 19879:2021 does not apply to the testing of hydraulic quick-action couplings, which is covered by ISO 18869.
Who is ISO 19879 for?
ISO 19879 on metallic tube connections for fluid power is relevant to:
- Manufacturers of metallic tubes
- Industries such as construction, automotive and aerospace, amongst others
Why should you use ISO 19879?
In hydraulic fluid power systems, power is transmitted and controlled through a liquid under pressure within an enclosed circuit. ISO 19879 helps you with the test methods for the evaluation of metallic tube connections.
ISO 19879 provides you with the type of stud end, tube-connector end and sealing method for quick and easy welding into structures and provide equal strength in all directions.
ISO 19879 describes various test methods for the evaluation of metallic tube connections, such as repeated assembly tests to ensure that they can meet the required requirements after being disassembled and reassembled several times.
A leakage test is provided to ensure that assemblies do not leak under test pressure. Proof and burst tests are performed to ensure that the specified connections can withstand a minimum of two times the connector's maximum working pressure without leaking.
ISO 19879 assists you in testing components to ensure that they meet the performance requirements of metallic tube connections for use in hydraulic fluid power applications so as to check their strength and ability to withstand extremes of temperature, pressure and destructive elements.
Overall, ISO 19878 can help you establish high-quality and efficient hydraulic fluid power connections to maintain optimal performance of the metallic tube and flange connections and stud ends, used hydraulic fluid power applications.
