What is ISO 20932-2 about?
ISO 20932 discusses the determination of the elasticity of fabrics. ISO 20932-2 is the second part of the multi-series ISO 20932 and discusses multiaxial tests.
ISO 20932-2 specifies the test methods which can be used to measure elasticity and related properties of fabrics when they undergo a deformation of their surface. Two methods are specified: a dynamic method (method A) and a static method (method B). ISO 20932-2 does not apply to narrow fabrics.
Who is ISO 20932-2 for?
ISO 20932-2 on the determination of the elasticity of fabrics is useful for:
- Textile manufacturers
- Quality control personnel
Why should you use ISO 20932-2?
Elasticity is the result of stretching the fabric to the maximum without being deformed. The elasticity is measured as a percent per meter or inch. The fabric elasticity can be measured wide-wise, long-wise, or across the bias of the fabric. Various materials, parts, and components are subjected to loads with several test axes to better simulate tests and conditions. For the verification of the test specifications, multi-axis testing machines and special test benches are possible, which are adapted to later use.
ISO 20932-2 was developed because of technological advancements in yarn and fabric structures and properties, which increase product range and developments.
The study of the elasticity of fabrics is important when the estimation of their quality at use is concerned. Deformation of material is manifested through the change of dimensions, form, and fabric surface. ISO 20932-2 ensures to improve the quality levels of the fabrics for better performance and durability of the fabric.
