What is ISO 22476‑14 about?
ISO 22476‑14 is the 14th part of the multi-series of international standard applicable to the geotechnical investigation and testing on field testing.
ISO 22476‑14 specifies the equipment requirements, execution, and reporting on borehole dynamic probing. ISO 22476‑14 specifies technical requirements in respect to equipment and implementation, in order to extensively prevent incorrect appraisals of the subsoil conditions and to limit scatter in the probing results due to equipment and implementation.
Note: ISO 22476‑14 fulfils the requirements for borehole dynamic probing as part of the geotechnical investigation and testing according to EN 1997‑1 and EN 1997‑2.
Who is ISO 22476‑14 for?
ISO 22476‑14 on field testing is useful for:
- Geotechnical engineers and investigators
- Soil probing and exploration rigs manufacturers and suppliers
- Land/site-inspection agencies
- Government disaster management departments
- Regulatory bodies
- Civil engineers
- Contractors
Why should you use ISO 22476‑14?
Geotechnical testing is carried out by geotechnical engineers, geotechnical technicians, or engineering geologists to determine the physical attributes of a worksite. Complying with borehole dynamic probing techniques as suggested under ISO 22476-14, can however help avoid the impacts of drilling muck or caving in.
With ISO 22476-14, you can easily and accurately determine the depth of the interface between hard and soft strata, as a result of which, the outline of objects buried underground can be analysed.
ISO 22476-14 will assist you in preventing and limiting scatter in probing findings with the appropriate equipment and implementation.
As a result of ISO 22476-14, accuracy and efficiency in testing and equipment can help you identify risks and potential damages due to overloading and repair of underlying conditions. This will contribute to a thorough study of the information regarding the underground conditions found from borehole dynamic probing, and extending the results to areas between two boreholes.
