What is ISO 22477‑5- Testing of grouted anchors about?
ISO 22477 is an International Standard that discusses geotechnical investigation and testing of geotechnical structures.
ISO 22477‑5 is the fifth part of the multi-series that provides specifications for the execution of tension tests to be carried out on an anchor grouted in the ground, as defined in EN 1997‑1 and EN 1537.
Note: ISO 22477‑5 does not provide specifications for the size of the proof load and the limiting criteria. These aspects reside in EN 1997‑1 or its national annex for CEN countries and in similar national application documents for this test standard for ISO countries.
Who is ISO 22477‑5- Testing of grouted anchors for?
ISO 22477‑5 on testing of grouted anchors is useful for:
- Contractors – specialist anchor contractors, procurement officers, project managers, design managers, construction managers, construction engineers, planning engineers
- Consultants engaged in-ground anchor design, construction, testing, monitoring, and maintenance
- Consulting engineers – geotechnical and civil engineers, structural engineers, project managers, design engineers, site resident engineers, site supervising engineers
- Geo-environmental specialists and geologists
- Designers – architects, design engineers, project managers
- Manufacturers – specialist anchor component manufacturers, technical managers, project managers
Why should you use ISO 22477‑5- Testing of grouted anchors?
Grouted anchors are used to provide support to retaining structures subject to horizontal load, basements subject to uplift, and many other geotechnical structures.
ISO 22477‑5 provides three test methods of testing:
- Method 1- involves cyclic tension loading with measurement of displacement at the load stages
- Method 2- involves cyclic tension loading with measurement of loss at the load stages
- Method 3- involves step-loading with measurement of displacement under successive maintained tension loads
ISO 22477‑5 also covers investigation test, suitability test and acceptance tests that can help determine the overall performance and durability of anchor systems.
ISO 22477‑5 also provides specifications for experimental devices, measurement apparatus, test procedures, the definition and presentation of the test results, and the content of records. With best industry guidance on testing grouted anchors, you can ensure that the anchor systems impart adequate stability for your engineering needs.
