What is ISO 22653 – static friction for lining and insocks about?
The quality of insocks and lining directly affects user experience. Quality footwear lets the wearer experience grip but avoids rubbing on skin. ISO 22653 specifies two methods of assessing the frictional properties of lining and insocks, irrespective of the material.
ISO 22653 describes methods of the test using two options; namely a sled, a driving mechanism, a flat bed, a measuring device, and an Instrument for the determination of the static angle of surface drag or an Instrument for the determination of the kinetic angle of surface drag.
Other definitions (such as coefficient of friction) is thoroughly described in ISO 22653.
Who is ISO 22653 - static friction for lining and insocks for?
ISO 22653 on static friction for lining and insocks is useful for:
- Manufacturers of footwear
- Product development teams
- Quality control teams
Why should you use ISO 22653 - static friction for lining and insocks?
Footwear quality can contribute to the quality of life in terms of issues such as blisters caused by rubbing. Using appropriate materials for footwear construction improves the overall functionality and comfort for users. ISO 22653 discusses various test methods to determine the static friction in lining and insocks so that you can decide on the uses of the material accordingly. The section on sampling and conditioning of test specimens guides you through different methods for testing materials.
The test methods section in ISO 22653 discusses the principal and procedure for each test. Using ISO 22653 guidelines, you would be able to determine the static friction in lining and insocks, so that your customers have comfortable footwear.
