description
What is ISO 22765-Nuclear fuel technology about?
ISO 22765 is an International Standard that discusses nuclear fuel technology.
ISO 22765 specifies the ceramographic procedure used to prepare sintered (U,Pu)O2 pellets for qualitative and quantitative examination of the pellet microstructure. The examinations are performed before and after thermal treatment or chemical etching.
Who is ISO 22765-Nuclear fuel technology for?
ISO 22765 on nuclear fuel technology is relevant to:
- Nuclear power stations
- Nuclear fuel technology providers
- Fissile material manufacturers
- Military and defence authorities
- Atomic research organizations
- Regulatory bodies
Why should you use ISO 22765-Nuclear fuel technology?
Mixed uranium-plutonium oxide is a type of nuclear fuel that contains more than one oxide of fissile material, typically plutonium blended with natural uranium, reprocessed uranium, or depleted uranium.
ISO 22765 procedures are useful for:
- Observation of any cracks, intra- and intergranular pores, or inclusions
- Measurement of the grain size, porosity, and plutonium homogeneity distribution
