What is ISO 22995 on Cloud point in petroleum products about?
ISO 22995 is an international standard that serves method for the determination of cloud point in petroleum products which enables you to ensure the structural integrity of petroleum products that are susceptible to temperature changes.
ISO 22995 specifies a method to determine cloud point using a step-wise cooling technique that is executed by means of automated equipment types with optical detection mode.
ISO 22995 method is applicable to distillate fuels, fatty-acid methyl esters (FAME) and paraffinic diesel fuels, including blends thereof, as well as those containing flow-improvers or other additives, intended for use in diesel engines and domestic heating installations.
ISO 22995 method can be applied to other products such as vegetable oils or lubricants, but these kinds of products have not been evaluated during the interlaboratory study (ILS), no precision data are available.
Who is ISO 22995 on Cloud point in petroleum products for?
ISO 22995 on cloud point in petroleum products is applicable to:
- Manufacturers of petroleum products
- Dealers and importers of petroleum products
- Regulatory bodies
- Testing and inspection services
- Quality inspection personnel
Why should you use ISO 22995 on Cloud point in petroleum products?
The temperature at which wax in diesel or biowax in biodiesels produces a foggy look is referred to as the cloud point in the petroleum industry. Solidified wax thickens the oil and clogs the fuel filters and injectors of engines.
ISO 22995 describes an automated method for the determination of the cloud point, based on the manual determination technique which enables you to automatically determine the cloud point to ensure the safety and usability of petroleum products.
ISO 22995 provides you guidance on principle, reagents, materials, apparatus, sampling, sample preparation, procedure, results and test report which enables you to accurately determine the cloud point of petroleum products.
Guidance in ISO 22995 enables you to prevent formation of crystals in petroleum products due to cold temperatures which renders them ineffective.
