What is ISO 28706-1 - Resistance to chemical corrosion for enamels about?
ISO 28706-1 is the first part of an international standard that discusses the aspects of vitreous and porcelain enamels.
ISO 28706-1 describes a test method for the determination of the resistance of vitreous and porcelain enamelled articles to attack by acid at room temperature and also specifies a method of classifying the results.
ISO 28706-1 specifies the technicalities for the vitreous and porcelain enamels such as test principle, reagents, materials and apparatus to be used, test specimens, test procedure, classification of results, citric acid test at room temperature, sulfuric acid test at room temperature, and other test solutions at room temperature.
Who is ISO 28706-1 - Resistance to chemical corrosion for enamels for?
ISO 28706-1 on resistance to chemical corrosion for enamels is useful for:
- Automotive manufacturers
- Structures construction
- Trains, airplanes, boat manufacturers
- Quality control laboratories
- Quality managers/assessors
Why should you use ISO 28706-1 - Resistance to chemical corrosion for enamels?
Vitreous enamel, often known as porcelain enamel, is a substance created by burning powdered glass onto a substrate. The powder melts, flows, and hardens to form a smooth, long-lasting vitreous covering. Corrosion of vitreous and porcelain enamels by aqueous solutions is a dissolution process. The main component of the enamel, SiO2, forms a three-dimensional silica network. After hydrolysis, it decomposes and forms silicic acid or silicates.
ISO 28706-1 provides you with the citric acid test at room temperature and sulfuric acid test at room temperature and other test solutions at room temperature that helps you to evaluate the resistance of vitreous and porcelain enamelled components to attack by acid at room temperature.
ISO 28706-1 can help you to control the enamel quality, the temperature, and the pH-value of vitreous and porcelain enamels for different corrosion conditions and provides you with the various types of different types of enamel attacks for different corrosion conditions.
Compliance with specifications given in ISO 28706-1 for chemical corrosion resistance could help you reduce the impact of chemical corrosion and improve the quality of vitreous and porcelain enamelled components.
