What is ISO 29767 – Water absorption properties of thermal insulating products about?
ISO 29767 is the international standard on building applications that focuses on water absorption properties of thermal insulating products used in building construction.
ISO 29767 specifies the equipment and procedures for determining the short‑term water absorption of specimens by partial immersion.
ISO 29767 is applicable to thermal insulating products.
Who is ISO 29767 - Water absorption properties of thermal insulating products for?
ISO 29767 on thermal insulating products is relevant to:
- Builders
- Building designers
- Manufacturers and suppliers in the construction industry
- Manufacturers and suppliers of thermal insulating products
- Insulation manufacturers
Why should you use ISO 29767 - Water absorption properties of thermal insulating products?
In order for a material to be used as thermal insulation, it must limit the heat convection, conduction, radiation or a combination of the three to reduce the heat transfer between two objects of different temperatures.
ISO 29767 enables you to determine the short-term water absorption of insulating products by performing laboratory tests.
ISO 29767 navigates you through the apparatus requirements for water drainage tests on a specific test specimen.
ISO 29767 specifies the requirements on the dimensions, numbers, preparations and conditioning of test specimens.
ISO 29767 provides the test procedure and conditions on test Method A (drainage) and Method B (deduction of initial water uptake).
Calculation and expression of results and accuracy regarding test method A and method B are provided in ISO 29767.
Overall, ISO 29767 could help you manufacture high-quality thermal insulating products for use in buildings by determining the water absorption of thermal insulation which will decrease the thermal resistance of the material and reduce the effect of weather conditions. In this manner, you can get thermal insulating materials that reduce energy consumption and help preserve the natural environment minimizing the heat transfer between outside and inside of the building.
