What is ISO 30023 about?
ISO 30023 is a series on textiles. A textile is a flexible material made by creating an interlocking bundle of yarns or threads, which are produced by spinning raw fibres into long and twisted lengths. ISO 30023 establishes a system of graphical symbols, intended for use in the marking of workwear articles and protective clothing providing information on the suitability for professional industrial laundering and specifying the use of these symbols in qualifying garments as potentially suitable for industrial laundering.
ISO 30023 applies to articles of workwear and protective clothing in the form in which they are supplied to the professional launderer.
Who is ISO 30023 for?
ISO 30023 on textile is useful for:
- Textile industry
- Textile producers
- Detergent suppliers
- Quality control personnel
Why should you use ISO 30023?
Textiles are then formed by weaving, knitting, crocheting, tatting, felting, bonding, or braiding these yarns together. Laundry symbols on the care label, explain the accurate temperature and correct way of washing our clothes. Therefore, the care label acts as a guideline for the increasing lifespan of our clothes. Laundry symbols provide important information on how to best take care of our clothes and linens. They tell us how to wash, dry, bleach, and iron in the proper way. If you want your garments to last long, you better be familiar with how to take care of all of them. ISO 30023 specifies the use of these symbols in qualifying garments as potentially suitable for industrial laundering.
Proper laundry and dry-cleaning care are important for any garment. Without them, some clothes might rip or run if the warning on the label isn't followed so the symbols and labels help the user to maintain their product quality for the long term. Using ISO 30023 you can establish a system of graphical symbols, intended for use in the marking of workwear articles and protective clothing.
