Abstract

This International Standard describes the control of viewing conditions for magnetic particle and penetrant testing. This standard includes minimum requirements for illuminance and UV-A irradiance and their measurement. It is intended for use when the human eye is the primary detection aid.

This standard covers safety precautions, fluorescent techniques, and visual acuity.

This International Standard supersedes BS 4489:1984 which is withdrawn.
