What is ISO 52127-1 about?
ISO 52127-1 is the first part of multiple series that specifies operational activities, overall alarming, fault detection and diagnostics, reporting, monitoring, energy management functions, functional interlocks and optimizations to set and maintain energy performance of buildings.
ISO 52127-1 is clearly identified in the modular structure developed to ensure a transparent and coherent EPB standard set in ISO 520001. BAC (building automation and control) is identified in the modular structure as a technical building system M10. However, other standards issued by ISO TC 205 deal with control accuracy, control functions and control strategies using standards communications protocol (these last standards do not belong to the EPB standards set).
Who is ISO 52127-1 for?
ISO 52127-1 on building management systems is useful for:
- Construction industry
- EPB members
- A building owner or individual owner
- Operator, a mechanical or technical supporter of BMS software
- Architects
- Civil engineer
- Regulatory authority
Why should you use ISO 52127-1?
The energy efficiency of a building is the extent to which the energy consumption per square metre of the floor area of the building measures up to established energy consumption benchmarks for that particular type of building under defined climatic conditions.
ISO 52127-1 aims at international harmonization of the methodology for the assessment of the energy performance of buildings called “EPB set of standards”.
ISO 52127-1 sets out BMS function which is a computer-based control system installed in buildings to help you to control and monitor the building's mechanical and electrical equipment such as ventilation, lighting, power systems, fire systems, and security systems.
By adapting BMS software as specified in ISO 52127-1 you can set and maintain the energy performance of buildings by operating several activities, overall alarming. You can also list out faults and repair them.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN ISO 52127-1:2021 supersedes BS EN 169471:2017, which is withdrawn
