What is ISO 5470-2 about?
ISO 5470-2 is a series on rubbers. Rubbers are also called India rubber, latex, Amazonian rubber, caucho, or caoutchouc, as initially produced, consisting of polymers of the organic compound isoprene, with minor impurities of other organic compounds. ISO 5470-2 specifies two separate methods for determining the resistance of a material to wet and dry abrasion.
Note: ISO 5470-2 is applicable to the coated surface or surfaces of coated fabrics.
Note: ISO 5470-2 does not apply to determine the abrasion behaviour of an uncoated surface of a coated fabric.
Who is ISO 5470-2 for?
ISO 5470-2 on the rubber is useful for:
- Rubber and coated fabrics manufacturer
- Rubber and coated fabrics testing institution
- Quality control personnel
- Research and development facilities
Why should you use ISO 5470-2?
The rubber is used extensively in many applications and products, either alone or in combination with other materials. The Martindale abrasion rub test is a measurement of the durability of fabric according to the number of times discs can oscillate sandpaper or wool across the fabric before it starts to show distress. ISO 54702 the resistance of a material to wet and dry abrasion by Martindale abrasion rub test.
The results of a Martindale test show how much wear and tear a fabric will take before there is a noticeable change in appearance. The higher the score, the more durable the fabric is. The scores below show how suitable fabric is for different upholstery uses. The most durable fabric will result in the best customer satisfaction the best durable goods will result for long term work-life and will be used by most of the end-user which will lead to increase the goodwill of the company, profit of the company sales level and production level of the company which leads to increase the revenue turnover of the company. Using ISO 54702 you can specify two separate methods for determining the resistance of a material to wet and dry abrasion.
