What is ISO 665 about?
ISO 665 provides tests and methods to determine the moisture and volatile matter content present in oilseeds.
ISO 665 describes methods and provides loss in mass measurements under the operating conditions outlined.
Note: Sampling is not a part of the method specified in ISO 665.
Who is ISO 665 for?
ISO 665 on Determining moisture and volatile matter content is useful for:
- Oil Industries
- Chemical Engineers
- Researcher and Scientists
- Food technologists
Why should you use ISO 665?
Oilseeds are generally seeds grown primarily for the production of edible (i.e., cooking) oils.
ISO 665 provides different procedures and methods to test and determine the amount of moisture and volatile matter content present in oilseeds.
ISO 665 provides standard guidelines for preparing and testing samples for testing specimens.
By using the methods outlined in ISO 665, the user will benefit from the flexibility of being able to test the material upon receipt, or just on the seeds alone. This is done by drying it until a constant mass has been reached, regardless of any impurities.
In ISO 665, manufacturers are provided with methods and calculation techniques that assist in maintaining and standardizing product quality by determining standard moisture content and volatile matter content.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN ISO 665:2020 supersedes BS EN ISO 665:2000. BS EN ISO 665:2020 includes some technical changes concerning BS EN ISO 665:2000. These include:
- The date of the normative reference ISO 664 has been deleted
- ISO 542 has been replaced by ISO 21294 and thus the reference in this document has been updated accordingly
