What is ISO 7233 about?
ISO 7233 discusses about Rubber and plastics hoses and hose assemblies.
ISO 7233 gives details about principles, apparatus, test pieces, conditioning of test pieces, test pressure and procedures for testing to determine the resistance to vacuum of rubber and plastic hoses and hoses assemblies.
ISO 7233 specifies three methods for determining the resistance to vacuum of hoses and hose assemblies manufactured from plastic or rubber. Applicable dimensions of hoses for each method are as follows:
- Method A for hoses of nominal size up to and including 80.
- Method B for hoses of nominal size greater than 80.
- Method C for hoses of all dimensions.
Note 1: Methods A and B can also be used to check the adhesion of the lining to the reinforcement (delamination) in a length of hard-wall hose or hose assembly.
Note 2: If not otherwise specified in the product standard, method C can be used as an alternative to methods A and B.
Who is ISO 7233 for?
ISO 7233 on determining the resistance to vacuum of rubber and plastic hoses and hoses assemblies is for:
- Rubber and plastic hoses manufacturers and suppliers
- PVC hose pipe manufacturers and suppliers
- Entities dealing plastic hose assembly and hoses
- Test providers for plastic and rubber hoses
Why should you use ISO 7233?
Vacuum testing is often required for hoses or hose assemblies to determine whether they will withstand the differential pressure encountered in service resulting from reduced pressure within the hose or hose assembly.
ISO 7233 provides you with a method for determining the resistance to vacuum of hoses and hose assemblies that helps you to check whether they will withstand the differential pressure encountered in service resulting from reduced pressure within the hose or hose assembly.
The test methodologies given in ISO 7233 enables you to examine the hose for any signs of deformation or delamination of reinforcement or lining, which contributes a lot in maintaining high quality and efficient functioning of rubber and plastic hose and hoses assemblies.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN ISO 7233:2021 supersedes EN ISO 7233:2016, which is withdrawn.
The main changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:
- Hose assembly has been added in the text
- A statement regarding change in length, as mentioned in Method C, has been added
