What is ISO 7291 - Pressure regulators for manifold systems about?
ISO 7291 is an International Standard that discusses gas welding equipment.
ISO 7291 specifies requirements and test methods for pressure regulators in manifold systems used in welding, cutting, and allied processes for:
- Compressed gases up to 30 MPa1) (300 bar)
- Dissolved acetylene
- Liquefied petroleum gases (LPG)
- Methylacetylene-propadiene-mixtures (MPS)
- Carbon dioxide (CO2)
Note: It is not applicable to pressure regulators fitted directly to the gas cylinders, as defined in ISO 2503.
Who is ISO 7291 - Pressure regulators for manifold systems for?
ISO 7291 on pressure regulators is relevant to:
- Gas welding equipment manufacturers
- Construction, automotive, mechanical industry
- Manufacturers of pressure vessels
- Aerospace and shipbuilding industry
- Welders and fabricators
- Specifiers
Why should you use ISO 7291 - Pressure regulators for manifold systems?
Pressure regulator for manifold systems is a device for regulating a generally variable inlet pressure to as constant as possible an outlet pressure when controlling the output of a manifold of cylinders.
ISO 7291 assists you with best industry requirements and test methods for pressure regulators in manifold systems used in welding, cutting, and allied processes.
ISO 7291 provides the conversion coefficient for the gases used to determine the flow rates and covers guidance on measuring requirements, physical characteristics, design, machining and assembly along with a type test procedure to assess pressure regulators conformity to this document. Tests for mechanical resistance of pressure regulators and functional tests are also covered in ISO 7291.
If you are a manufacturer, you can demonstrate the safety and reliability of pressure regulators for its intended use, by complying with ISO 7291. As a result, risks from ignition and leakage can be prevented, and the efficiency of welding, cutting, and allied processes can be enhanced.
