What is ISO 7668 about?
ISO 7668 specifies methods for the measurement of specular reflectance and specular gloss of flat samples of anodized aluminium. This is done using geometries of 20° (Method A), 45° (Method B), 60° (Method C) and 85° (Method D) and of specular reflectance by an additional 45° method (Method E) employing a narrow acceptance angle. The methods described in ISO 7668 are intended mainly for use with clear anodized surfaces. They can be used with colour-anodized aluminium, but only with similar colours. Specular reflection and specular gloss are not unique physical properties of a surface. They vary with the angle of measurement, and with the aperture dimensions that define the incident and the reflected beams, such that the measurements of these properties are not independent of the apparatus being used.
Who is ISO 7668 for?
ISO 7668 on anodizing of aluminium and its alloys are applicable in the following industries:
- Construction, automotive, mechanical Industries
- Manufacturers of aircraft & aerospace
- Shipbuilding industry and marine industry
- Transport and construction industries
Why should you use ISO 7668?
Standardization in the method of measurement of specular reflectance and specular gloss creates uniformity and saves time. ISO 7668 specifies the measurement of specular reflectance and specular gloss in anodizing aluminium and its alloys which prevent corrosion and wear due to abrasion or erosion.
ISO 7668 helps in anodizing aluminium and its alloys applications which is uses for electrical insulation and thermal insulation.
Compliance with the standards informs customers that the quality and performance of the products are the best in industry.
