What is ISO 7840 about?
ISO 7840 discusses standards for fire-resistant fuel hoses of small craft. ISO 7840 specifies general requirements and physical tests for fire-resistant hoses for conveying petrol or petrol blended with ethanol, and diesel fuel or diesel fuel blended with FAME, designed for a working pressure not exceeding 0,34 MPa for hoses with an inner diameter up to and including 10 mm, and 0,25 MPa for hoses up to 63 mm inner diameter in small craft.
ISO 7840 applies to hoses for small craft with permanently installed fuel systems.
Note: ISO 7840 does not apply to hoses entirely within the splash well at the stern of the craft connected directly to an outboard engine.
Who is ISO 7840 for?
ISO 7840 on fire-resistant fuel hoses of small craft is applicable for these entities:
- Marine fuel hose manufacturers and suppliers
- Maritime manufacturers
- Small craft manufacturers
- Ship and marine industries
- Quality control professionals
Why should you use ISO 7840?
Small craft fuel hoses in any fuel systems are essential to ensure safe craft operation and trouble-free performance. High-quality fuel assembly components must be securely attached to prevent potentially dangerous craft fuel lines leaks. ISO 7840 provides you with requirements and test procedures for testing fire-resistant fuel hoses of the small craft which ensures that hoses are suitable and fully functional for marine use by complying with the requirement of the tests. Following design specifications provided by ISO 7840, you will be able to manufacture a high-quality fire-resistant fuel hose that is safe to use. You will also lengthen the lifespan of your small craft hoses with ISO 7840 guidelines. This will also ensure the prevention of waste.
By adopting ISO 7840, you can have the quality assurance to ensure that small crafts are produced according to the requirement and build trust in its use throughout the ship and marine supply chain.
