What is ISO 7971‑2- Method of traceability for measuring instruments for cereals about?
ISO 7971 discusses the bulk density of cereals. ISO 7971‑2 is an international standard that provides a method of traceability for measuring instruments for cereals to improve the quality of cereals.
ISO 7971‑2 is the second part of a multi-part series that specifies a test method for ensuring the traceability of bulk density, called “mass per hectolitre”, measuring instruments through reference to standard measurement instruments.
ISO 7971‑2 also specifies the performances required of national standards instruments, secondary standards instruments, and measuring instruments used in laboratories or collection or storage silos.
Who is ISO 7971‑2- Method of traceability for measuring instruments for cereals for?
ISO 7971‑2 on the method of traceability for measuring instruments for cereals is useful for:
- Food scientists
- Food laboratories
- Food health and safety departments
Why should you use ISO 7971‑2- Method of traceability for measuring instruments for cereals?
Bulk density is an intensive property that is the same no matter how much of a substance is present. Bulk density is an important concept because it allows us to determine what substances will float and what substances will sink when placed in a liquid.
ISO 7971‑2 provides you with the test methods and procedures for determining the bulk density of cereals through the method of traceability for measuring instruments.
The test methods provided by ISO 7971‑2 assist you to improve the quality of measuring instruments and ensure reducing contamination, disease, and spoilage in the food supply.
By adopting ISO 7971‑2 the user can enhance the quality of the cereals to produce a product of higher standard and quality.
What is changed since the last update?
BS EN ISO 7971‑2 supersedes EN ISO 7971‑2:2009, which is withdrawn. BS EN ISO 7971‑2 has made some technical changes compared to the previous edition EN ISO 7971‑2:2009. These include:
- Changes have been made to the test samples used for the traceability of measuring instruments through reference to standard measurement instruments
- Further details have been given on statistical tests
- Clarification has been given on the decision rules by adding a decision tree for national standard instruments and secondary or internal standard instruments and by introducing a bias control
