What is ISO 7971‑3-Method for the determination of bulk density in cereals about?
ISO 7971 discusses the determination of bulk density called mass per hectolitre in cereals. ISO 7971 is an international standard that provides a routine method for the determination of bulk density in cereals to improve the quality of cereals.
ISO 7971‑3 is the third part of a multi-part series that specifies a routine method for the determination of bulk density, called “mass per hectolitre”, of cereals as grain using manual or automatic, mechanical, electric, or electronic mass per hectolitre measuring instruments.
The mass per hectolitre of cereal is obtained from the mass of a volume of cereal determined under controlled sample filling and flow conditions.
Who is ISO 7971‑3-Method for the determination of bulk density in cereals for?
ISO 7971‑3 on method for the determination of bulk density in cereals is useful for:
- Food scientists
- Food technologists
- Food laboratories
- Food health and safety departments
Why should you use ISO 7971‑3-Method for the determination of bulk density in cereals?
Bulk density is an intensive property that is the same no matter how much of a substance is present. Bulk density is an important concept because it allows us to determine what substances will float and what substances will sink when placed in a liquid.
ISO 7971‑3 provides you with apparatus, test methods, procedures, precision, description of dimensions and use of KERN, description of dimensions and use of Nilema liter, and much more.
The test methods and procedures provided by ISO 7971‑3 assist in determining “mass per hectolitre” ensuring process improvement and quality control of cereals.
By adopting ISO 7971‑3 you can enhance the quality of cereals and produce a high-quality product.
What is changed since the last update?
BS EN ISO 7971‑3:2019 supersedes EN ISO 7971-3:2009, which is withdrawn. BS EN ISO 7971‑3:2019 has introduced the formula to express the results obtained with NILEMA LITRE for wheat and barley compared to the previous edition EN ISO 7971-3:2009.
