What is ISO 844 about?
ISO 844 specifies methods for determining the compressive strength and corresponding relative deformation, the compressive stress at 10 % relative deformation, and the compressive modulus of rigid cellular plastics.
ISO 844 gives information about principle, apparatus, test specimens, procedure expression of results, etc. for determining compression properties of rigid cellular plastics.
Who is ISO 844 for?
ISO 844 on determination of compression properties of rigid cellular plastics is useful for:
- Manufacturers and suppliers of Rigid cellular plastics
- Plastic manufacturing & processing companies
- Dealers and suppliers for high impact rigid cellular plastics
- Testing laboratories/ test providers for Rigid cellular plastics
Why should you use ISO 844?
Any polymer that has output products having a density ranging from 60 pounds per cubic foot (pcf) to 0.1 pcf can be called as a rigid cellular plastic.
ISO 844 gives you test method for determining the compressive strength and corresponding relative deformation that provides information about the behaviour of cellular materials under compressive loads by which you can easily collect deformation data of the rigid cellular plastics.
ISO 844 makes it possible to compute the compressive stress at any load and to compute the effective modulus of elasticity for its buyers by using given test methods, that help you to manufacture the high class, reliable and efficient plastics products.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN ISO 844:2021 supersedes BS EN ISO 844:2014, which is withdrawn
The main changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:
- Different extensometer gage lengths have been given for use with different specimen thicknesses.
- Repeatability and reproducibility results from the interlaboratory test on Procedure B have been added for compressive strength and compressive modulus of elasticity measurements.
- Annex A has been added to provide information on the determination of the compressive modulus by means Procedure B.
