What is ISO 8469 about?
ISO 8469 discusses standards for non-fire-resistant fuel hoses of small craft. ISO 8469 specifies general requirements and physical tests for non-fire-resistant hoses for conveying petrol or petrol blended with ethanol, and diesel fuel or diesel fuel blended with FAME, designed for a working pressure not exceeding 0,34 MPa for hoses with an inner diameter up to and including 10 mm, and 0,25 MPa for hoses up to 63 mm inner diameter in small craft.
ISO 8469 applies to hoses for small craft with permanently installed fuel systems.
Who is ISO 8469 for?
ISO 8469 on non-fire-resistant fuel hoses of small craft is applicable for these entities:
- Marine fuel hose manufacturers and suppliers
- Maritime manufacturers
- Small craft manufacturers
- Ship and marine industries
- Quality control professionals
Why should you use ISO 8469?
Small craft fuel hoses in any fuel systems are essential to ensure safe craft operation and trouble-free performance. High-quality fuel assembly components must be securely attached to prevent potentially dangerous craft fuel lines leaks. ISO 8469 provides you with requirements and test procedures for testing non-fire-resistant fuel hoses of the small craft which ensures that hoses are suitable and fully functional for marine use by complying with the requirement of the tests. You will be able to manufacture a non-fire-resistant fuel hose that is safe to use, following the design guidelines provided in ISO 8469. You will also lengthen the lifespan of your small craft hoses with ISO 8469 guidelines. This will also ensure the prevention of waste.
By adopting ISO 8469, you can have quality assurance to ensure that small crafts are produced according to the requirements and build trust in its use throughout the ship and marine supply chain.
