What is ISO 9046 about?
ISO 9046 specifies a method for the determination of the adhesion/cohesion properties of sealants with predominantly plastic behaviour which are used in buildings and civil engineering works.
Who is ISO 9046 for?
ISO 9046 on the determination of adhesion/cohesion properties of sealants is useful for:
- Builders
- Civil engineers
- Sealant manufacturers
Why should you use ISO 9046?
Sealants are used to connect and join the various parts and materials to the main structure helping in closing the gaps between the elements and surfaces of the construction and thus, preventing fluids and other substances from passing through surfaces and mechanical joints. ISO 9046 provides test methods for the determination of the adhesion/cohesion properties of sealants.
ISO 9046 gives you information about the apparatus used for the test methods on sealants to check the depth and location of the loss of adhesion and/or cohesion for each test specimen.
ISO 9046informs you about an examination process for evidence of loss of adhesion or cohesion to ensure the strength and durability of Sealants.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS EN ISO 9046:2021 supersedes EN ISO 9046:2004. BS EN ISO 9046:2021 includes some technical changes with respect to EN ISO 9046:2004. These include:
- Modified the title
- Modified the rate of test machine
- Modified the requirement of relative humidity
- Modified the anti-adherent substrate.
